Isatuu Lamarana is a proud Fulani and Muslim artist, photographer, and videographer from the Jane and Finch community. Her work centers around storytelling, representation, and celebrating the beauty and resilience of youth, especially through the lens of sports.
As a passionate sports photographer, Isatuu has worked with organizations like Canada Basketball, the Montreal Alliance, Raptors 905, MLSE, and Toronto Community Housing, capturing the energy and pride of athletes in action. Her goal is to spotlight the talents of Black and Muslim youth, helping them see themselves reflected in powerful and affirming ways. She has also worked with community-driven groups like the Canadian Women’s Foundation, where her visuals continue to tell stories of strength, joy, and belonging.
In addition to freelancing, Isatuu serves as a Youth Worker and Media Associate for nonprofit organizations. She blends her creative work with community advocacy, engaging directly with youth to create space for expression, empowerment, and visibility both on and off the court.
Through every photo, she hopes to inspire the next generation to take up space, follow their passions, and feel proud of where they come from.
